What Is Peace?
Peace, as espoused by the FEU Angel C. Palanca Peace Program (FEU ACP3), is not merely the absence of war or direct physical violence, but an integrated and holistic concept grounded on six key issues:

•    Cultivating Inner Peace – cultivating inner peace, involving personal growth and reflection, self-awareness, confronting personal and family issues, finding direction in life. Issues: despair, anxieties, stress, addictions, narcissism, ego-centrism, materialism.
•    Promoting of Human Rights – valuing human dignity, respecting, protecting and promoting rights of others and oneself. Issues: discrimination, political killings, violations of rights of marginalized groups (women, children, minorities).
•    Living with Justice and Compassion – promoting justice and compassion. Issues: violence caused by unjust systems in the local as well as the global level that cause undue suffering, poverty, hunger, graft and corruption.
•    Dismantling the Culture of War – dismantling the culture of war. Issues: proliferation of arms (small arms, weapons of mass destruction), “use of force” in the form of intimidation, bullying and campus violence, or violence against women and children (VAWC).
•    Intercultural Respect, Reconciliation and Solidarity – promoting intercultural respect, reconciliation, and understanding. Issues: violence and injustice caused by racism, stereotyping, and discrimination.
•    Living in Harmony with the Earth – appreciation for mother earth, respecting the ecological balance and harmony of the earth, oneness of all creation. Issues: chemical agriculture, genetically modified organisms, unsustainable growth and development, global warming, deforestation, waste crisis.
