It was a productive February for the FEU Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management BS Hotel and Restaurant Management Department as three third-year students took home awards from several major contests.
John Richard Co finished as First Runner Up in the Brew Atelier’s Brewers Cup. Using Kalita 101 for his Brewers and Costa Rica Jaguar Honey Brew coffee beans, John’s coffee entry was a hit among the audience with its seemingly perfect aroma and taste.
Richard was only one of two students that competed in a 15-man field that had 13 professional baristas.
“The contest was very challenging for Richard because this was the first time he had to do manual brewing while delivering his spiel,” shared HRM faculty Prof. Mary Angel D. Elacion
Another winner was Lynchor Fate F. Dimaculangan as she was crowned 1st Runner-Up in the Tanduay Class Flair Diva 2018, Inter-school flair bartending competition Female Category held on February 19, 2018 at STI College Cubao. Dimaculangan competed against 12 other finalists that participated in the Tanduay Class that ran from June to December 2017.
Meanwhile, Ralph Dulay bagged 6th Place at the “Clash of the Bottles”, Flairtending Competition held last February 23, 2018 at Madison Hotel, Quezon City. Dulay was up against 31 students from different colleges and universities in Manila.
