“Truthful, Accountable and Meaningful Student (TAMS) Leadership: Braving the Path of Integrity and Sustainability”
Student Development aims to:
- Foster enriching campus environment through leadership trainings, mentorship, and extra-curricular activities developed in diverse student councils and organizations.
- Provide opportunities for student leaders to join and participate in national and international leadership endeavors.
- Develop a sense of responsibility for student leaders to take ownership of their actions and decisions.
- Craft and approve events and programs that develop 21st century leadership skills.
- Ensure the culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in every student organization’s project.
SDev implements the following programs:
1. Management of Operations and Systems Training (MOST) and General Plan of Action (GPOA) Discussion convenes student leaders from all recognized and accredited University organizations.
Management of Operations and Systems Training (MOST) and General Plan of Action (GPOA) Discussion aims to:
- set the thrust of student organizations and help students meet the required competencies of 21st century leaders.
- ensure more effective learning of specific competencies targeting different officers’ roles and responsibilities.
2. Freshmen Assembly is designed to ignite freshmen’s leadership potential. The event highlighted leadership opportunities, including student government, organizational involvement, and mentorship programs.
Freshmen Assembly aims to:
- orient freshmen about various leadership opportunities in the university, including student government, organization leadership and membership, and mentoring programs.
- identify their leadership potential and encourage them to become future leaders who shape the vibrant campus life and the fulfillment of the university’s aspirations.
3. FEU Leadership Excellence (FLEX) Seminar-Workshop is designed to inspire students to develop their leadership potential by harnessing their values and abilities. The program aims to foster a spirit of servant leadership and equip participants to make a significant impact.
FEU Leadership Excellence (FLEX) Seminar-Workshop aims to:
- serve as venue for students to discover and realize their worth as potential leaders and servant leaders.
- aid students, especially the freshmen, to learn more about various opportunities at FEU that will develop their sense of purpose while consciously shaping and building their core values as their foundation.
- enable students to reflect and make decisions on how they can TAMplify better that passion and conviction to take up space and leadership roles to serve within and outside the FEU community.
4. Pre-Election Candidates’ Orientation (PECO) is designed to acquaint aspiring and existing student leaders with the mandate of Student Development as well as the other offices that support the execution of student-led projects and events.
PECO aims to:
- discuss the mandate of SDev and some University offices.
- articulate the policies and procedures of SDev.
- explain the projects and trainings for student leaders.
5. Leaders as Mentors Program (LAMP) is a leadership mentoring program conducted by FEU Student Development (SDEV) in cooperation with various university offices and external partners which focused on enhancing 21st century skills necessary to successfully navigate leadership roadmap from 1st year up to graduating year.
Leaders As Mentors Program (LAMP) aims to provide:
- relevant discussion on various student leadership approaches to help solve emerging issues and challenges within and outside student organizations.
- understanding of the role of student leaders in designing activities and programs that will serve as catalysts for social change, diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability.
- guidance on how student leaders manage their fiscal integrity to support the conduct of projects for the benefit of student body.
- benchmarking on how student organizations can create sustainable, impactful, and problem-solving policies and projects within university and the communities they intend to serve.
- platform where student leaders are encouraged to become mentors to other aspiring leaders by consciously improving their communication skills, academic excellence, accountability, and sense of pride as a student and Tam leader.
6. Pre-Appointment Candidates’ Orientation (PACO) Webinar
PACO is an orientation for vacant and appointed positions, outlining the duties and responsibilities of each officer in the organization. In accordance with the organization’s CBL and guided by the Mechanics and Procedures for Appointment (MAPA).
Pre-Appointment Candidates’ Orientation (PACO) aims to:
- discuss the qualifications of student leaders for the vacant positions in an organization.
- explain the duties and responsibilities of student leaders in an organization.
7. Leadership Succession. SDev ensures leadership succession by administering the conduct of student elections through the FEU-COMELEC and by providing training and mentorship opportunities for the Council of Advisers (CoA) through the Advisers’ Competencies’ Training (ACT).
8. Student Off-Campus Engagements (SOCE). SDev is also tasked to select official student representatives to local and international leadership development programs and off-campus conferences, seminars, forums, and competitions for students.
