For the first time the San Miguel Corporation–Collegiate Press Corps Awards Night recognized top student-athletes in football, naming Far Eastern University (FEU)’s Carmela Altiche and Mon Diansuy as University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Football Players of the Year.
Altiche was named Most Valuable Player of the UAAP Season 87 Women’s Football Tournament. She scored and assisted in the championship match against De La Salle University, helping the FEU Women’s Football Team secure its third straight UAAP title. She is a graduating Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences student.

Diansuy played a crucial role in FEU’s redemption run in UAAP Season 87, serving as a defensive anchor. His defining moment came in the finals against Ateneo de Manila University, where he delivered key saves in the penalty shootout, allowing FEU to reclaim the championship it lost to the University of the Philippines in Season 86.
The incoming Bachelor of Science in Medical Biology senior was also named the UAAP Most Valuable Player. He has expressed his strong desire to capture another title with the Tamaraws before concluding his collegiate career.
Altiche and Diansuy received their inaugural “rulers of the pitch” award last June 30 at Discovery Suites Manila in Pasig.
