About the Piece
Robert Ko, a graduate of the FEU Institute of Architecture and Fine Arts interprets the iconic image of the traditional Filipino “bayanihan” by using an entirely unexpected treatment that departs from convention. He succeeds at imparting a new insight.
His construction is not of a frail hut made of light and indigenous material but that of a symbolic nation being carried on the shoulders of strong, capable Filipinos working as one, imbued with courage, persistence and pride.
