The FEU CRAFT (Course Refresher in Assessing and Facilitating Teaching-Learning) is designed to emphasize the principles of FEU teaching-learning pedagogy and prepare the faculty for the practice. The training will combine plenary talks and workshops as strategies in equipping the faculty as they return to face-to-face instructions. It draws on the practices and modalities from the past two years and use them as the starting point of discussions and implications to the now normal education. Critical discussions on student-centered pedagogy and assessment are addressed as part of the workshops.
Far Eastern University’s mentoring program for faculty where dialogues, conversations, and articulation on best practices in teaching and learning are framed by classroom observations.
The Teaching in Practice-Talk (TIP-Talk) program aims at (1) supporting newly hired tenure track and all teaching assistants in their acclimatization to the university culture and to the teaching standards expected of them; (2) providing the FEU seasoned faculty with a venue to share their knowledge and expertise; and (3) encouraging faculty development through dialogue, conversations, and peer-observations.
Highlights of the mentoring program are the (1) First and Last Meetings; (2) Conversations (Once during the midterm and once during the final terms); and (3) Observation (one by the junior faculty and one by the senior faculty).
The TIP-Talk program runs every semester. The first semester focuses on providing professional support to the faculty while getting acquainted with the FEU teaching-learning culture. The second semester is centered on checking the development of the faculty from the first immersion into the mentoring program.
Induction to FEU Teaching-Learning Culture
Teaching and Assistantship Preparation can offer great opportunities to budding and aspiring teachers. Like any full-fledged faculty, FEU Junior Faculty and Teaching Assistants also play a major role in achieving the University’s goal, including course and program expected outcomes; thus, knowledge and practice preparations in the student-learner context are vital.
This 6-session training is designed to emphasize the principles of FEU teaching-learning pedagogy and prepare both the junior faculty and the teaching assistants (Tas) for practice in the FEU environment. The training will combine plenary talks and workshops as strategies in equipping the faculty for face-to-face instructions.
The talks draw on the practices and modalities from the past two years of FEU teaching and use them as the starting point of discussions and references to the implications for the now normal education. Critical discussions on student-centered pedagogy and assessment are addressed as part of the workshops.
