Teacher Certificate Program

Institute of Education

The Teacher Certificate Program (TCP) may be taken by graduates of non-education degrees to qualify for the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).  It consists of 18 units of professional education courses in compliance with Republic Act 7836 (The LET Law) and with Article II of CMO 30, s. 2004.

The program uses a blended e-learning approach, with 50 percent online and 50 percent classroom interaction. It may be completed in one semester.

For students who need or want Practice Teaching units, they may take an additional 12 units of experiential learning courses (Field Study and Practice Teaching), for which they will be given a Certificate of Completion.

Admission Procedure:

  1. Register online through this link:  https://student-central.azurewebsites.net/login

*FEU graduates/former students are not required to register online.

  • Submit/upload the admission application requirements via student central and email.
  • Settle the application fee of P500.00.

Admission Requirements:

Non- FEU Graduates (including transferees):

  • Original Transcript of Records with computed General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 2.0 or its equivalent
  • Original Transfer Credential / Honorable Dismissal or Certificate of Non-Issuance of Transfer Credentials
  • Photocopy of license, if applicable
  • Photocopy of PSA Birth certificate
  • Photocopy of PSA Marriage Certificate (for married women)
  • Essay (please refer to the link for the guide questions)
  • Two (2) sealed recommendation letters from current/former employers or former professors.

FEU Graduates from Manila and Makati:

  • Photocopy of Transcript of Records (TOR) with computed General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 2.0 or its equivalent;
  • Photocopy of diploma;
  • Essay (please refer to the link for the guide questions)
  • Photocopy of license, if applicable.
  • Photocopy of PSA Birth Certificate
  • Photocopy of PSA Marriage Certificate for (married women)
  • Two (2) sealed recommendation letters from current/former employers or former professors.

Guidelines for the Admission Process:

  1. The Admissions and Financial Assistance Office (AFA) will conduct the initial evaluation based on the submitted requirements of the student applicants. Once passed, AFA will forward the requirements to the Institute for final evaluation including the endorsement form and the recommendation letters.
  2. The Department Chair or the Dean of the concerned Institute will administer the final screening through an interview/ essay.
  3. The AFA will email the final evaluation results to the applicant.
  4. The Graduate Studies Office will send the acceptance/congratulatory letter to the registered email of the applicant once eligible for admission.

EDUC1N-LET
 – The Teaching Profession

The course deals with the teacher as an individual, classroom and teacher, community teacher, and global teacher. This emphasizes professionalization to cover teachers’ status and level of professional rewards and professionalism to improve the current status of the teacher.

Prerequisite: None

Credits: Three (3) units

Number of hours: 54 hours per semester

EDUC2N-LET – Principles of Teaching

This course introduces prospective teachers to the complex nature of the teaching-learning process. It deals with principles associated with different instructional strategies and techniques, curriculum, problems, classroom management, assignment, and the art of questioning. It is designed to introduce to prospective teachers the conceptual knowledge of learning and teaching and eventually enable them to transcend the concepts to operational skills in the learning and teaching process.

Prerequisite: None

Credits: Three (3) units

Number of hours: 54 hours per semester

EDTCH1-LET – Educational Technology

This course is designed to introduce the basic learning theories and principles as bases for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of instruction using educational technology. Students are expected to acquire skills in integrating technology in various content areas. Course activities are focused on the design and development of ICT-based instructional plans.

Prerequisite: None

Credits: Three (3) units

Number of hours: 54 hours per semester

EDUC4N-LET – Child and Adolescent Development

This is a basic course on child and adolescent development focusing on the current researches and theories on the biological, linguistic, cognitive, social and emotional development and the factors that affect the progress of development. The coverage of the course is structured to cover the key dimensions of the development of children and adolescent.

For each dimension, the core contemporary research findings and theories are covered. Particular emphasis is given to the factors that have been identified as having positive or negative effects on the natural course of these development processes.

Prerequisite: None

Credits: Three (3) units

Number of hours: 54 hours per semester

EDUC5N-LET – Assessment of Learning

The course will involve an overview of measurement and evaluation, educational objectives, types of tests, test development and administration, quality of classroom test and problems. Educational measurement and evaluation focuses on the fundamental principles of educational measurement and evaluation which pre-service teachers will need to apply as a teacher.

In this course, pre-service teachers will learn the basic elements that will enable them to function effectively as a teacher, especially in the area of student’s assessment. It discusses how to specify the objectives in a measurement and behavioral terms and how to evaluate the objectives.

Prerequisite: None

Credits: Three (3) units

Number of hours: 54 hours per semester

EDU17N-LET – Curriculum Development

This course is intended to introduce to education students effective curriculum design and assessment. The course topics include curriculum models, principles, and approaches in designing, delivering and assessing the curriculum

Prerequisite: None

Credits: Three (3) units

Number of hours: 54 hours per semester
