ITHM academic managers present a Certificate of Appreciation to Chef Ivory Yat-Vaksman.
Under Far Eastern University Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management’s partnership with Potato USA—a marketing organization representing 2,000 commercial potato farmers across the US—“Cultivating Culinary Creativity: Nurturing Innovation in the Kitchen” was conducted last March 5.
Demo by a pro
The event kicked off with an educational session led by Chef Ivory Yat-Vaksman, owner of Chef Ivory Catering services and a 3rd placer of Masterchef Philippines 2013. She provided insights about potatoes, including their history, varieties, and various ways of cooking it.
The highlight of the event was the live cooking demonstration, where Chef Ivory showcased her skills by turning simple tater tots into a gourmet dish. The aroma filled the kitchen, capturing the attention of the audience as they watched the demonstration, thus leaving them inspired to explore new and innovative potato based dishes.

Empowering the young
The interactive seminar and demonstration served as an opportunity for the students to prepare for a potato-based cooking competition on March 19. This competition pushes aspiring chefs to apply the techniques, knowledge, and creativity they gained from the seminar, encouraging them to cook unique and innovative dishes that showcase the versatility of potatoes.
The event was organized by the Hapagdiwa Productions of MICE Class Section 8 under Chef. Jan Racky Masa and overall event head Tonie Abigail Reyes at the ARH Function Hall.
