Far Eastern University Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management students and their partner community in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology gathered to promote sustainable food practices and raise awareness about food waste during World Disco Soup Day last April 26 at the ARH Function Rooms and FEU Plaza.
The activities organized by LikhaNa Productions included a feeding program using rescued food, educational sessions on sustainability, and a fun disco-themed social night. Expert speakers enriched the experience with insights on responsible consumption and environmental stewardship, turning advocacy into action through a celebratory, community-centered approach.
With its interactive and hands-on format, World Disco Soup Day provided real-world learning experiences that helped students apply sustainable hospitality practices and emphasized the university’s commitment to academic and social excellence.

The celebration ended with a call to continue sustainability efforts within and beyond the university. Participants walked away with practical knowledge on food waste reduction and a renewed sense of social responsibility. The evening disco party and free food distribution reinforced the event’s theme of minimizing waste in a fun and engaging way.
Organizers plan to grow the event through deeper community partnerships and expanded sustainability programs, further cementing the university’s role as a leader in transformative, socially driven education.
World Disco Soup Day aligned with the university’s mission to produce socially responsible and globally competitive graduates. It supported the UN Sustainable Development Goals toward Zero Hunger, Responsible Consumption, and Climate Action.
