The Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) of Far Eastern University held “Hospitality Horizons: A Lecture Series for the Next Generation Industry Professionals” last Oct. 21 from 1 pm to 5 pm at the University Conference Center. The event was attended by third-year ITHM students, particularly those enrolled in the HSM1106 course, who gathered to learn from industry experts about the future of hospitality and tourism.

In her opening remarks, Dr. Marichu Carasig-Liwanag highlighted the importance of embracing innovation and sustainability as essential pillars in the hospitality industry.

Magnolia Salvador, CEO of The Magnolia Marketing, gave students deeper insights into the emerging trends and technologies that are reshaping the hospitality and tourism industry. She emphasized that expertise and experience in the field will greatly inspire and equip learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to adapt to the industry’s rapid digital transformation.

Magnolia Salvador, CEO of The Magnolia Marketing and a strategic consultant for TravelTech and Digital Marketing, discussed how technology continues to reshape travel and hospitality through AI, data analytics, personalization, and contactless innovations. Salvador inspired students to view digital transformation not just as a technological process but as a human-centered approach that enhances guest experiences through creativity and empathy.

Chef Lord Carlo Bayaban, Executive Chef of Hilton Manila at Newport World Resorts, delivered a presentation on “Sustainable Hotel Initiatives: Real Stories, Real Impact.” Bayaban shared practical examples of sustainable culinary and hotel practices, emphasizing that sustainability is a shared commitment to protecting the planet while fostering community growth and innovation within the hospitality field.

The event continued with a Q&A session, followed by the awarding of certificates and tokens of appreciation to the speakers. The synthesis, delivered by Dane Miranda, highlighted the key takeaways of the event, encouraging students to merge innovation with compassion as they prepare for professional careers in a constantly evolving industry.

Through “Hospitality Horizons” students were reminded that the future of hospitality lies in the balance between technology and human connection, empowering them to become the next generation of industry innovators.
