Academic managers, alumni, and industry partners recently discussed ways to strengthen Far Eastern University (FEU) Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHM) programs and better prepare students for the future.

Dr. Harold B. Bueno, dean of ITHM, thanked the industry partners and alumni for their support of the institution during their Stakeholders Advisory Board Committee (SABC) Consultation Meeting last April 30 in FEU.

Carolina Roces, associate department chair for internship, formally introduced and welcomed the members of the industry and alumni advisory boards.

Following the consultation, Dr. John Malonzo, department chair for hotel management, and Dr. Chrisdie Flores-Tongol, department chair for tourism, presented the updated professional elective courses. They discussed how the new electives were developed to match current industry trends and provide students with relevant career skills.

Industry partners and alumni shared their feedback and recommendations during the meeting. They suggested adding more hands-on training and including digital tools to keep up with industry changes. Their input could improve the curriculum and make it more responsive to today’s needs.
