During the Start of the Academic Year Orientation last August, the University Research Center (URC) presented its Priority Impact Research Initiatives (PIRI) to the faculty.
The following were identified as priority research areas: (1) Fostering Biodiversity Across a Changing Landscape; (2) Communicable Diseases Transmitted from Animals to Humans (Zoonotic Diseases); (3) Filipino Diaspora and the Homeland: Leaving, Staying Behind, and In-Between; (4) History and the Sustainable City: How Cities Have Developed and How They Will Develop; and (5) From Directive to Practice: How Teaching and Learning Happens Throughout the Philippines in Response to CMOs, DMs, and Dos.
The URC also discussed the FEU Research Agenda Framework that can guide research efforts under the PIRI and facilitate interdisciplinary and collaborative research aligned with national and global goals, such as the Philippine Development Plan, the Department of Science and Technology’s Health and Nutrition Research and Development Agenda, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The URC highlighted the importance of collaboration with governmental and non-governmental organizations to formulate impactful, sustainable, and globally relevant solutions though research in its commitment to contributing toward the achievement of Aspirations 2028 and addressing pressing social issues.
The URC also presented Research Publication Awards to the recipients to recognize the scholarly achievements of faculty members. This recognition emphasizes the university’s commitment to academic excellence and its support for the faculty development.
The research publication incentive program plays a vital role in motivating faculty and staff to engage in research and contribute to the body of knowledge in their respective disciplines. Through this program, the university fosters a research culture, highlighting its importance in enhancing individual and institutional growth.
