The Asian Journal on Perspectives in Education (AJPE) of Far Eastern University (FEU) conducted another session of its AJPE Research Spotlight Webinar Series, featuring a discussion on research visibility and academic publishing trends last March 11 through Microsoft Teams.
“What Gets Read, Cited, and Published: Insights from Philippine eJournals for Emerging and Established Researchers” gathered more than 100 participants from across the Philippines and abroad, including educators, graduate students, and academic researchers.
Their session featured Aquiles S. Sansing, acquisition manager of Philippine e-Journals under C&E Publishing, Inc. In his presentation, Sansing shared data-driven insights drawn from the Philippine eJournals platform, one of the country’s largest aggregators of peer-reviewed scholarly publications. He discussed emerging research trends, frequently searched topics, citation patterns, and readership behavior across Philippine academic journals.
Sansing emphasized that understanding how research is discovered, accessed, and cited is increasingly important in today’s competitive academic publishing landscape. He highlighted how scholars can improve the visibility and impact of their work through strategic topic selection, clear research framing, strong metadata, and engagement with open-access publishing systems. His talk also underscored the role of national journal databases in strengthening scholarly communication and supporting the growth of Philippine research.

Romualdo A. Mabuan, principal associate editor of AJPE and professor at the FEU Institute of Education, moderated the forum. Mabuan facilitated the discussion and audience engagement, highlighting how the insights from the session could guide emerging and experienced researchers in navigating the evolving research ecosystem.
Providing the formal reaction and closing remarks, Rosarito T. Suatengco, editor-in-chief of AJPE and Research Fellow at FEU, underscored the importance of aligning research with current scholarly conversations, methodological rigor, and accessible dissemination platforms. She noted that the webinar reinforced the value of open knowledge systems and responsible scholarly publishing in enhancing research impact and visibility.
Participants engaged in the question-and-answer segment, raising questions about publication strategies, research discoverability, and the role of journal indexing in increasing citations and readership.
The event forms part of AJPE’s continuing initiatives to strengthen research capacity, promote open-access scholarship, and support researchers in navigating the academic publishing landscape. Through its webinar series and scholarly programs, AJPE aims to contribute to the development of a more vibrant and globally connected research community in the Philippines and beyond.
