Far Eastern University will be the host school for the 2nd Asian Tourism Research Conference 2021. Dr. Maria Teresa Trinidad P. Tinio, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, formally accepted the hosting duties during the closing ceremony of the 1st Asian Tourism Research Conference from Mahatman Gandhi University in India held on December 3, 2020.

FEU Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management Dean Dr. Joy Sheelah Baraero-Era was one of the keynote speakers of the event.

Her topic was “Tourism Resilience Strategies in the Academe from the Philippine Perspective”. The purpose of the conference is to convene researchers with studies related to Asian tourism from all-over the world. This is to further understand the regions rich and complex tourism sector. The event was attended by different countries; Philippines, India, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, The Bahamas, Indonesia and China. During the event, the Asian Tourism Research Journal was also inaugurated which will have its first issue on April 2021.

This partnership aims to further enrich and cultivate the research culture in ITHM in response to the direction of the university and of the industry. Dean Baraero-Era revealed that the 2nd conference will be held on November 14-16, 2021 and will focus on issues, emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities on representations, revitalizations and recovery of Asian Tourism in the 21st century and amidst a global pandemic.
