Wanderlust Xplorer: Tour Guiding Competition
Far Eastern University (FEU) tourism majors joined the “Young Hoteliers’ Exposition Funtasia” from June 12 to 16 at World Trade Center in Pasay in conjunction with Manila Food and Beverage Exposition (MAFBEX).
This was organized by Worldbex Service International, in cooperation with De La Salle- College of Saint Benilde School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management for the 18th MAFBEX and the 67th Young Hoteliers’ Exposition where students develop and showcase their talents and skills in various competitions.
Tourism students of FEU participated in the following competitions:
“Wanderlust Xplorer: Tour Guiding Competition,” designed for hospitality or tourism students who are aspiring to be tour guides, allowing them to showcase their knowledge and communication skills while highlighting the diverse and captivating tourist destinations in the Philippines. Marco De Guzman, a tourism senior, represented FEU.
“Lakbayin Natin: In Flight Safety and Emergency Landing Demonstration,” where competitors must accurately and creatively act out a safety demonstration during flights as well as showcase the emergency landing procedure. Marc Yuan Hernandez, an incoming junior and Kirsten Gale Lardizabal, a senior tourism major, both joined the contest.
“Cool It! Irate Passenger Complaint Competition” gives the participants the opportunity to present their problem-solving skills and customer service skills by addressing simulated complaints from irate passengers in various tourism and hospitality industry. Jurry Tominio, an incoming senior tourism student participated in this category and was second runner-up.
