Far Eastern University (FEU) is sustaining its research program by collaborating with the Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium (MMHRDC) and the UBelt Consortium.
In an advisory board meeting last December—the first time since 2017—FEU and MMHRDC renewed its commitment to collaborative research in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The meeting convened key stakeholders, including university presidents, medical professionals, hospital executives, and research directors representing MMHRDC member institutions. Discussions centered on critical initiatives aimed at strengthening research capacity, including ethics training programs, and the development of impactful health policies. Participants also explored innovative strategies to broaden member engagement and identify potential funding opportunities to support vital research endeavors.
The event culminated in a ceremonial signing of the Membership Commitment Undertaking, reaffirming the shared dedication of all members to advancing health research throughout the NCR.
The meeting was held at the Belmont Hotel Manila, Newport City, Pasay City.

Further demonstrating its commitment to advancing research, FEU also participated in a capacity-building workshop hosted by the UBELT Consortium last January. This workshop focused on securing external funding for research projects, a crucial component of sustainable research initiatives.
The Department of Science of (DOST)’ Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development provided expert training to consortium members on the intricacies of applying for DOST research funding. The workshop, spearheaded by Dr. Ruby Ratera and Ruel Pili, guided participants through the proposal preparation, submission, and evaluation processes.
Key areas covered included the development of Needs-Solution Differentiation Benefits formats, crafting Detailed Project Proposals for Applied Research and Workplans, and preparing Detailed Line-Item Budgets for DOST Grants-in-Aid.
