Far Eastern University (FEU) will host the 2017 Linguistic Society National Conference and general meeting on April 6 to 8, 2017 at the Mini Auditorium of Far Eastern University-Manila, Nicanor Reyes st Manila.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed by Dr. Ma. Teresa Trinidad P. Tinio, FEU senior vice president for Academic Affairs and Dr. Shirley Dita- president of Linguistic Society of the Philippines and faculty at De La Salle University (DLSU), Dr. Jesus Federico Hernandez, LSP conference director, faculty at University of the Philippines- Diliman, and Dr. Philip Jay N. Alcoberes, program head, Department of English of FEU-the Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS).
The ceremonial signing was witnessed by Dr. Dennis Pulido, IAS associate dean for Special Projects, Dr. Sterling Plata, program head of the Department of English and Applied Linguistics in DLSU, and the faculty members of FEU Department of English.
“The three-day conference will gather linguists from all over the Philippines and distinguished speakers from premier universities in Asia to exchange ideas and to present relevant research. It will surely nurture the culture of language research among faculty and students at FEU,” said Dr. Alcoberes, conference local director.
Dr. Tinio welcomes the hosting of FEU for LSP-NCMG in 2017 as an opportunity for both the faculty and students to interact with international and local linguists. The FEU English Department will also play an active role in the conference.
