Far Eastern University Publications’ participation in the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) this year will be highlighted by the launch of two books, Walk Manila and Mindanao Harvest 4. MIBF 2019 takes place on September 11 to 15, 2019 at the SMX Convention Center and FEU Publications will be at Booth 433.

Walk Manila presents the built heritage of Manila from its colonial past to recent contemporary history. This guidebook identifies 100 historic sites and structures including those deemed as heritage-at-risk in the different districts — Intramuros, Port Area, Ermita, Malate, Paco, Santa Ana, Pandacan, Binondo, San Nicolas, Tondo, Santa Cruz, Quiapo, San Miguel, Sampaloc and Santa Mesa.

It promotes Philippine history and culture by underscoring the significance and value of Manila’s architectural legacies and landmarks, documenting them for posterity, and popularizing them through walking tours of the districts. Walk Manila comes with maps and tours developed by the FEU Guides, the University’s official tour guides and ushers.

Meanwhile, Mindanao Harvest 4 features works from around 50 young poets, fictionists, essayists, and playwrights written in English, Sebuano, and Filipino. The contributors belong to the three main groups of inhabitants of Mindanao: Christians, Muslims, and Lumads. This diversity is reflective of the ethnic and cultural richness of the region.

This book continues the effort to expose more Mindanao writers in the literary mainstream, according to editor Jaime An Lim.

“At heart, Mindanaon writers are incorrigible optimists. They continue to write about the simple joys, beauty, and richness of their homeland: the white sand of Samal Island, the gentle waves of La-itan, the green islands on the inland sea, the sweetness of Davao’s pomelo, the tastiness of longganisa, the steaming bowl of Gou Maki at Famous.”

Walk Manila and Mindanao Harvest 4 will be available in MIBF 2019 for a special launch price of Php585 and Php500, respectively.
