The Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management (APIEM) recently announced that FEU faculty Assoc. Prof. Maria Arlene “Bam” T. Disimulacion is the group’s new Vice President for Academic Affairs. Prof. Bam is currently an Associate Professor III at the FEU Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management and was awarded as one of Ten Outstanding Faculty in 2015.
Her new role will see her working with the APIEM Executive team to develop further the APIEM Academy`s portfolio of in-person, online and blended learning courses in events management. In 2020/21 some 300 scholars from Indonesia, Maldives, Malaysia, Philippines and Sri Lanka successfully completed their study programs, according APIEM Professor David Hind.
Prof. Bam has published research on MICE tourism and special events, sustainability and information and communications technologies (ICTs), and creative tourism. She is a sought-after speaker on tourism and business and she also has written five tourism and hospitality books.
She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (BSBA) from University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman and completed her Master in Business Administration (MBA) with High Distinction from FEU Makati. She also completed certificate courses from the University of California Irvine, Florida Atlantic University (FAU), and University of South Florida (USF). She is also a Professional Fellow and Certified Event Educator at the APIEM.
