Dr. Benjamin Mendillo, a former department chair of the Far Eastern University Institute of Education (FEU-IE), has been appointed full-time commissioner for finance and administration and OIC Director General at the Commission on the Filipino Language (CFL), a national agency mandated to promote and propagate Philippine languages.
Before his appointment, he was the Director of Graduate Studies at FEU. Dr. Mendillo, a translation practitioner, did translation work locally and abroad. He completed the translation of “Save your Kidney Book,” commissioned by the Philippine Association of Nephrologist and endorsed by the American Society of Nephrology, which now reached over 60 million visits on their website. He also translated most Filipino strands of “Waze,” an app used to outwit traffic. Dr. Mendillo completed his Ph.D. in Translation with a full scholarship at De La Salle University, Manila. He served as Chief Translator at the Office of the President, Malacanang Palace, where he instituted The Translation Certificate Program for prospective translators.
The Institute of Education (IE) congratulates Dr. Mendillo on his appointment. IE Dean Harold Culala said that Dr. Mendillo is an esteemed faculty of the Institute. His appointment is a testament that the IE roster of faculty is of national caliber.
