The Office of the Chair, through the FEU Alumni Relations Office, organized a special luncheon event to show appreciation to FEU alumni athletes who brought honor to the country through their exemplary participation and accomplishments at the 31st Southeast Asian Games, which was held in Hanoi, Vietnam last May 2022.

With 50 gold, 69 silver, and 93 bronze medals, the Philippines came fourth overall in the international competition. Present during the event were FEU Chairman of the Board of Trustees Aurelio R. Montinola III, Chief Finance Officer Juan Miguel R. Montinola, Senior Vice President for Corporate Affairs Gianna R. Montinola, Director for Sports Development Antonio R. Montinola, Director for Alumni Relations Celmer L. Santos, and Director for Athletics Mark Oliver P. Molina. Invited athletes shared their fondest memories of their time as FEU student-athletes and recalled how the University helped them achieve success in their respective sporting fields.

A minute of silence was observed during the event in memory of Asia’s Sprint Queen of the 1980s, Lydia de Vega-Mercado, one of the most renowned athletes in the county. The beloved alumna was one of the first to be inducted into the FEU Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Lydia passed away in August after a courageous battle with breast cancer.
