Far Eastern University Men’s Basketball team captain Raymar Jose has been named to the UAAP Season 79 Mythical 5. The hardworking senior had a total of 53.6429 statistical points and his season averages are 11.1 points, 11 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He was the main anchor of the Tams’ strong run this year.

Jose was the ACCEL Quantum/3XVI-UAAP Press Corps Player of the Week in the third week of October.

While FEU was unable to defend the UAAP title, the Jose-led Tamaraws exceeded expectations as they narrowly missed this year’s UAAP Finals despite losing the core of the FEU UAAP Season 78 Champion team. He exploded for 20 points and 23 rebounds when the Tams’ forced a deciding game against the Ateneo Blue Eagles in the recent UAAP Final Four.

Many believe Raymar, who idolized NBA rebounding legend Dennis Rodman, is already a top prospect for teams in the Philippine Basketball Association given his strong performance in the last three UAAP seasons. He plans to join the 2017 PBA Draft.

“My basketball career doesn’t end here. I hope I can still improve,” he said in his post-game interview after FEU was eliminated.

Being a tireless worker in practice and in games made him the unanimous choice of his teammates to fill the leadership void left by UAAP Season 78 Finals MVP Mac Belo, who is now in the PBA.

In the shadows of FEU’s stars in recent years, Raymar Jose’s landmark performance in UAAP Season 79 made him more than deserving to be called a King Tamaraw.

“Raymar has leadership and I hope he brings it over wherever he goes,” according to FEU Head Coach Nash Racela.
