The local government of Manila with the leadership of City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso, desires to re-establish the city as the country’s premier tourist destination. In this regard, major stakeholders were invited to take part in the consultative meeting /workshop organized by the Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau on September 3, 2019, from 8 am to 3 pm at Cecilia Munoz-Palma Hall, Universidad de Manila. Far Eastern University – Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management ( FEU ITHM) gladly heed the call for involvement.

The event had participants from both private and public sectors including universities and colleges, local government officials from various barangays, public health offices, senior citizens, and hotels amongst others. The FEU ITHM together with other FEU units such as the Volunteer Services Office and the Nicanor Reyes Memorial Foundation actively participated in this collaborative effort towards the urban renewal of the city aimed at increasing its tourism economic competence.

FEU ITHM’s participation in this endeavor heightens its partnership with the local government as well as its neighboring communities.

FEU is a proud recipient of a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) heritage award in 2005, and actively supports this collaborative engagement. Participation in this kind of partnership also promotes responsible citizenship, creating added value for Manila’s tourism.
